A circa 1750-80 naval hanger with a pierced and file worked guard. The sword is a most likely naval officers sword from the tail end of the golden age of piracy, the style is obviously English though unusually the sword has a clipped point which is a rare feature among British swords. This sword is a great example of a non pattern and unique sword and would look great in any collection as an example of the totally unique short officers hangers or sabres before regulation. There is a split to the ebonized grip and there is a missing ferrule lost to time. This sword can be yours for £500 or best offer.
