So a belated first day of Swordvent and time to start with a bang!
Now I've always loved these and now it's time for you to get to be in love with one of these too!
What we have here is an 18th to 19th century lantaka, the swivel gun of maritime Southeast Asia derived from the guns carried aboard Dutch and Portuguese Indiamen. This example appears to be Malayan.
This however is a rather special example as it is a twin of one held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Accession number: 36.25.2121) so a rare chance to have an item equal to one of the greatest collections of arms and armour on Earth.
This lantaka can be yours for £795 or best offer.
