A rather delightful 1821 pattern light cavalry officers sabre, this one is unmarked but is quite early, dating to between 1821 and approximately 1845. I would say from the profile of the blade and the style of hilt and grip it is likely dating nearer 1821.
The bade feels good in the hand, the extended "beaked" grip found on these earlier pieces making for a comfortable fit. The grip is often referred to as a Gill grip after the style of grips used on Gill family 1796's.
The sword is in good condition for its age, there is some cosmetic wear and the grip has worn to bare wood but it has its original silver wire.
This sword can be yours for £475 or best offer.
