
A Somali bilao dating to the last quarter of the 19th century, a type of large knife or short sword often paired with a buckler sized shield called a gashaan. These pieces have a long cutting edge and a two step bac edge with a large "clip" point similar to a bowie.
The hilt is made of stacked horn, ebony and brass.
