A large wootz shamshir dating to the mid to late 18th century potentially with an heirloom blade dating back to the 17th cenury, this piece is one of the largest wootz blades I have seen with a gilt cartouche which may be that of Kalb Ali, the son and of master sword maker Assadullah Isfahani, a master sword maker in his own right. The sword has a large sharply curved blade with a nicely carved steel guard including the not often seen knucklebow with a steel pommel cap over an organic two pinned hilt. The sword is out of polish and I have not polished the sword further than to check if the sword is wootz, which it is and a nice high contrast tight grained wootz at that. This piece can be yours for £1750 or best offer.
