A fine early 1780's spadroon with a rather special multi part sectioned ivory grip that is slightly larger than usual. The other unique factor about this spadroon is that it has a field repair, at some point in its use this sword has had damage soldered together, something seen occasionally among swords that have been damaged on campaign where a replacement is unlikely or will not arrive for some time. Other than this the sword feels incredible in the hand and balances extremely well, the blades engravings and hilt still have the remains of gilt. The blades engravings are incredible quality despite the ageing to the steel. At some point there was a sidering that was added and brazed on with brass which has since been removed.
