A pre regulation British transitional backsword or spadroon. The sword is of indeterminate length being capable of both cavalry and infantry swordsmanship and has an extra bar for hand protection less commonly seen in the period. This sword is commonly associated with dragoons, mounted infantry who would ride into battle and fight on foot. Somewhat similar to the 1786/1788 designs with a steel guard, blade and an ebony grip. The blade has a beautiful profile with clean fullering and a long false edge. The blade bears the letters P and A on the back edge. This sword can be yours for £475 or best offer.
