C1770 Gilt Military Smallsword £1550

A rather intriguing piece as this sword combination is not often seen. The slot hilt is usually seen paired with a hanger or spadroon blade. This hilt is highly decorated and of good quality with almost all of its original gilt remaining, the blade is an incredibly finely engraved blue and gilt piece with most of its gilding remaining and most of its blueing. Handling this piece it seems to move without effort and the slot hilt gives some protection and a great amount of movement in the wrist.
