A sword from my personal collection and one that has intrigued quite a few collectors and experts.
This is a short smallsword, potentially shortened, likely for use for sea service much like the shortened 17th century Scandinavian swords.
This sword has a German blade with the French motto "Draw me not without reason, sheathe me not without honour", a rather delightful phrase on any blade.
The hilt is in near perfect condition and there is some agre related staining but no damage to the blade.
The piece is extensively decorated and despite being on the smaller end (31") it balances like a short hanger.
This sword can be yours for £495 or best offer.
