A rather spectacular addition to the site, a rare example of a mid 18th century Turcael. These swords are famously hard to find as most basket hilts carry broadsword or backsword blades. The only basket hilted blade harder to find than this is the alehouse dagger.
This example bears a late Passau or early Harvey blade of stout proportions with a very thick spine and a very broad blade and is approximately cutlass sized.
The basket is a variant of the English dragoon three quarter basket on a rounded shagreen grip with silver wire.
