A rather large Eastern-style hanger with the iconic hilt of the karabela, a sword from Central and Eastern Europe which itself was inspired by sword hilts from the Middle East, Crimea and the Caucuses.
This example is a touch shorter than 80cm with most examples, even with blades as broad as this, tend to be closer to 55-70cm, making it one of the largest of these forms of sidearm I have owned. These swords were the gentleman's sidearm of much of Northern and Central Europe, worn both in civilian life as part of a day-to-day outfit, for hunting activities as a finishing or self-defence sword but before the invention of military standardization they were also carried on the battlefield.
This sword can be yours for £550 or best offer.
