A rather fun and rare opportunity to own a Spanish cup hilted rapier dating to the mid to late 16th century. This piece is a standard cup hilt with exceptionally long quillons similar to the Neapolitan style of rapier.
The sword is touch under 50 inches long overall and has a very nimble feel in the had from the rear weighted balance over the wrist.
The sword bears makers marks in the fuller which are indistinct but I believe it is a Toledo maker, more will be revealed with a light cleaning.
Sword is in solid condition for its age and has some light salt and pepper pitting.
