A rather hard to find sabre from the Armed Associations of the late 18th century, the Armed Associations were a militia movement founded in 1798 and lasted till 1802 when many of their soldiers joined the regular army as part of the Anglo French conflicts against Napoleon. The sabre is a large and attractive 1786 pattern sabre with a cushion pommel and a blade etched to the Armed Associations, there is the name of the Armed Association before but it is indecipherable as the etching has rubbed off.
Overall in good condition with some salt and pepper ageing to be expected with a sword of this age.
