Here is a fun sword, one of the French military Epee du Soldat's or French officers sword from the years of the French Revolution and the First French Empire. The sword is a stereotypical blade of the period, a military smallsword but not yet a spadroon. This sword has a knucklebow, boatshell guard, a pommel in the shape of a Phrygian capped head.
The blade itself is a triform hollow ground blade with a blue and gilt forte. The blueing is in rather good condition with most of the gilt remaining in the engravings. The grip wire is luckily perfect. This sword is £420 or best offer. Reduced to £395.
