here we have an interesting example of a sterling silver hanger dating to approximately 1730 with a faded hallmark I believe to Joseph Swift, "I.S", of London. This hanger is incredibly well-formed with a theme of plumed feathers similar to that of the Duke of Cornwall's crest. The knucklebow and quillon have a beautifully filed decoration with floral terminals.
These feathers appear on the pommel, clamshell and knucklebow. The blade is a rather typical single fullered, sturdy and single-edged blade.
This sword can be yours for £1150.
