Whilst this hanger is a pre-regulation non-military hanger it has the sturdiness and spartan aesthetic seen among the more militaristic short sidearms of central Europe and it may well be a military hanger for pioneers or riflemen.
This sword has a plain broad blade ending in a spear point, it is single-edged with a thick back edge. The hilt consists of a pleasantly carved horn grip with silver or white metal rivets, the guard is brass with bulbous quillon terminals. Overall this is a hefty 18th century sidearm in good condition for its age, the only wear being some cosmetic salt and pepper age discolouration of the blade.
This sword can be yours for £400 or best offer.
