This heavy sabre with its beautifully shaped guard and buttery smooth antique grip is most likely British or Irish following the 1788 style.
The sword balances perfectly and is a classic example of a hussars sabre from the British Isles. This piece is most likely an officers combat piece, it is of far better quality than would be expected of a troopers piece but is bare of many of the embellishments of the 18th century.
The sabre has some minor edge damage and has the remains of heavy pitting which has been taken into account for the price.
This sword can be yours for £345 or best offer.
(This sabre is to be sold with the de minimis exemption for ivory, it's ivory content is 10% or less, it is being traded as a piece of antique militaria with no value given to the ivory component and it shall not be exported from the United Kingdom)
