An incredibly rare and interesting type of Indian Firanghi, the style of sword named for its use of foreign blades or features, from Mysore. This example has the blade from a German or Portuguese late style arming or side sword, the precursor to the European Broadsword blade from the 16th to 17th century. The hilt likely dates to the mid to late 17th century and was carried during the period just before the era of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. The hilt on this sword has a leaf or petal shaped knuckle guard and a globular pommel in the form of a flower bulb making this entire hilt appear to be a flowering lotus. This sword can be yours for £1800 or best offer.
