A rather fun British sabre dating to the tail end of the 18th Century and is of the 1786 style, whilst this style of sword was called the 1786 these were very popular from about the 1770's seeing much use in the American Revolutionary War and the Anglo-Franco War.
These sabres were carried by all Branches of the British (and American) military but were more common among the Navy, Artillery and Infantry on overseas service.
The sword is in excellent condition for its age with very little cosmetic wear. There is some gilt remaining and a nice even patina to the blade.
Potentially American Revolutionary War as this sword was sourced from the US. This sword can be yours for £495 or best offer.
